Defense AI Funding Wave: Shield AI $2B Series G, Anduril Seeking $60B Valuation

In Q1 2026, the global defense AI sector experienced record capital inflow. Two leading companies—Shield AI and Anduril Industries—are illustrating the valuation evolution and industry direction of this sector through their funding activities.

Shield AI: $2B Series G, $12.7B Valuation

In March 2026, US defense startup Shield AI announced completion of a $2 billion Series G funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of $12.7 billion, doubling from a year ago.

Shield AI’s core product is an “AI pilot” system, designed to free human pilots from high-risk aerial combat, with AI systems autonomously executing reconnaissance and combat missions. Shield AI’s 2026 revenue is expected to exceed $540 million, with growth rate over 80%.

Anduril Industries: Seeking $60B Valuation

Meanwhile, Anduril Industries is seeking a new funding round at a $60 billion valuation, doubling from its June 2025 valuation of $30 billion.

Founded by Palantir co-founder Palmer Luckey in 2017, Anduril’s products cover autonomous drone systems, border surveillance platforms, and AI-driven command and control systems.

The accelerating capital inflow into the defense AI sector is driven by three structural factors:

National defense budgets increasingly allocate to AI. The US Department of Defense has been continuously increasing budget allocation for autonomous systems and AI technology.

Commercial AI technology maturity lowers development costs. Progress in large models and computer vision has significantly reduced the development threshold and cost of defense AI applications.

Geopolitical factors accelerate procurement cycles. Tensions in multiple global regions are prompting countries to accelerate defense modernization.
